Swimmer Series

Artists tend to be influenced by their surroundings. In 1974 Jeannie moved into her dream home, a modern home with a prominently featured swimming pool as its central feature. She had been interested in incorporating more vibrant color into her paintings, so the sparkling, blue water immediately jumped out at her. She asked several of her students to pose alongside and then later in the pool. Not only was Jeannie pleased with the results, but her first swimmer sold before the paint was even dry. She took about four new swimmer pieces to her first show of the year in Miami and quickly sold out, with requests for more the next year. Since then, swimmers have become Jeannie’s signature subject matter.
